As long as there’s road and opportunity, I’ll take it.
I visited Tuskeegee University in Tuskeegee, Alabama for yet another homecoming. Alongside my sorority sister and ultimate roadtripping partner, we did it the Tuskegee Way. Screaming “T-U, you know!”all weekend was indeed eventful and memorable.
But here’s the REAL reason I was a tiger for three days: FUTURE. Nayvadious Wilburn, better known by his stage name “Future Hendrixx” performed during their homecoming concert on Friday night, and might I add it was a m a z i n g! (I’m a huge Future fan if you don’t know by now). It was super cool to see him perform live, along with DJ Esco held in the schools gym/auditorium center. The HBCU experience was definitely real that night as many gathered to see him perform some of his greatest hits.
The weekend carried over onto Saturday where we enjoyed the homecoming parade, visited vendors that were set up, tailgated, and watched Tuskegee take on Miles College. (Sadly, they lost in the last three minutes of the game.)
The night ended with a tent party hosted by the Alpha Phi Alpha chapter there. My very first tent party, and well I can say it was…memorable, to say the least, lol. All I can say is, I’m glad I’m here to tell the story. Thanks to our wonderful hosts for the weekend, Shanta and Jalen; definitely a worthwhile trip!
